Does this whole thing read a little like the story of the two black kids being surrounded by the plain clothes state troopers in the Quarter for standing next to a wall, only to have one of their mother's walk up and identify herself as a NOPD officer, and then all the staties simply walked away?

I love how any time cops get caught out abusing power or not following protocol they immediately go to the "we thought he had a gun", and most of the public just eats that shite up.
