I would bet that most modern players also train more, compete more, study the game more, work on individual facets of their play more, and condition their bodies better. It's easy to get into this argument in any GOAT debate. The fact remains that today's athletes are better than ever before--in every sport. Technology doesn't really detract from that. Michael Phelps could out swim Johnny Weisman in a sweatsuit.
