I am going to avoid going on a rant but even as I type this my blood pressure is going up. First of all frick u Texas. I had a plan to solve all this bullshite. We were gaining momentum then you texas party boat bastards had to pull the plug and support this bullshite. I hope you all go bankrupt.

Oh a little rant, the bill we needed to have out own state snapper season and tell the idiots at NMFS NOAA has passed the house 92-3 and just got out of committee in the senate and will pass there as well. Governor Bryant will sign the bill and we can join with our brothers in Louisiana and say a collective screw u NMFS! Bama no good news, u remain NOAAs little bitch apparently hoping they will use a condom when the screw you last or something . I am hoping for at least a 75 or 90 day season. Bama residents you can buy your Mississippi fishing license online or at Walmart. (Hint )

Very few people have anything on me fishing wise brother, and unlikely any Mfer on here. (Those people dont use computers.) Plus only thing that is scary in the water is the damn weather and sharks over 12 feet. (Just make you feel like food.)

They were the deciding votes that started this bullshite management plan 15 years or so ago. MY plan (based upon tagging studies and real science) was to split the gulf snapper in three zones and management each zone separably according to its population, habitat, fishing pressures etc. Florida, (Gulf of no snapper) is one Zone. Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana (Gulf of plenty of snapper) is Zone 2, The country of Texas Gulf of some snapper) is zone three as they wanted a different season to begin with. (Since no snapper at the time had ever been tagged and re-caught more than 20 miles from it's original location a Alabama snapper will always be a Bama snapper, etc. They are not pelagic. As this makes perfect sense everyone started to move toward supporting this plan. Then the Texas Head aka party boats decided to go with one Zone as the figured they could catch some of the central Gulf's quota and if they were on there on they would get a catch reduction sooner. Didn't want to be own their own. So much for Texas Independence!

I am not sure the Bama guys got this.

If you are a Bama snapper fisherman and you want to catch snapper all summer instead of two weeks, then you should buy a Mississippi Fishing license and make sure you fish West of Dauphin Island. As long as you caught your fish at FH-2, 12, 13 you can land them in Bama. Get or download a modules map or maybe I just upload one here when season starts.

You guys have the same problem we have in LA, very few places to catch snapper within state waters.

New regulations will give us 20 miles out which will give us all the main FH sites. Frankly, give you option to catch them period and just say I caught them at fh2 and everyone knows it. Not like I would ever do that

I know we included the MS waters into the STAR tourney for the snapper division. It was too much of a cluster with the shape of our coast line. But if MS follows us, then you only have 10.3 miles from coast.

Tut, I live in Orange beach and have fished the GOM for 25 years. It's soo damn stupid the seasons in place and the.catch limits on the ARS. They have basically taken over any decent reef / natural or artificial. The science is flawed and Bob Ships has been saying the snapped population is as healthy as its been in 25+ years. The people in power in this state need to wake the.frick up and fight for increasing our boundary lines and set a state season/limit like LA/MS/FL etc.

I don't believe we can go in ms waters to catch the ars and bring them back in AL waters without being fined. I'll ask a good friend who's marine police.

We sold our offshore Jupiter 31fs last year due to lack of use/gas/season limits and etc. Just too expensive to keep when we'rnot using as much. The .oil spill, sucked. I have a vested interest in that night it blew, can't go in further details other than I was there.

This snapped season is going to finish off some good captains down here, the idea of weekend (thus-sun) seasons running for 5 months is the best idea for our local economy and would be huge if the people in power would get their heads out of their assess. Fn sucks.

Its fricking war then. frick the feds. Please ask Jeff Angers or whoever the new CCA guy to petition the AG to file suit against the Feds if they dont recognize the new regs. Mississippi will join in and I am glad to set up meeting with Jim Hoods office whenever you are ready. File suit in New Orleans. Reasons not for public discussion. This shite needs to end now and yes I am volunteering my services to help with litigation pro bono.

Of just tell the feds to geaux to hell, and when they make first arrest if they do I will challenge then and we can sue them. They have no science behind this and they know it. Shipp has been right for years

Space if you have a Mississippi license and claim to have caught fish in Mississippi waters I do not think they can fine you as I dont think in state landing requirements are needed. But if they are welcome to Pascacola landing. Be sure to tell local mayors and everyone how much money you are going to be spending out of state. I would suggest you send fuel receipts etc. Bama is being stupid on this. Please help ring the bell. AS soon as it is official I will yell at press guys

Nope you would be in AL state waters with an illegal fish, doesn't matter where it was caught.

I had a long conversation with one of the owners at SAMs tackle store here in OB about how great it would be if AL had its own seasonal had the state waters out to at least ten nm, preferably 20-30. The idea we had was weekend thru-sun like LA is proposing? Run from spring through end of September. The additional tourism revenue and license revenue would be huge. We've had a really great season last year and this year projects to be fantastic as well. Just don't need any of those damn storms coming through with a big hit. There are so many positives to having are own longer season, it makes too much sense for the govt to see it and get it done. Frustrating to have one of my favorite activities get so screwed up by faulty science and corrupt govt, ie commercial fishing special interest, keeping the rec guys out. It's bullshite, damn I'm getting pissed just typing this.

There's a reason they want to put GPS trackers on out boats. We have FL, AL and MS guys running to rigs off of LA to fish. That was one of their biggest complaints with the regional management plan. Since we know they aren't a pelagic species we suggested making the split at South Pass and having an Eastern and Western Northern Gulf region and FL and TX having their own.

Capt ST ; most of the boats fishing rigs in LA from AL are tuna fishing or trolling for other pelagics; no need to run to LA for snapper. There are close to 1000 public artificial reefs(reef makers-David Walters-See show on The Weather Channel reef wranglers) that were deployed from the proceeds of our Red Snapper World Championship tournament-2003-2009(i believe last year). You can download the #'s on outdooralabama. Plus the privates and natural bottom we fish. If anyone is running the LA rigs for snapper then they are dumb for burning the gas.

We(in my old boat-31 CC) usually only made it to Horn Mountain (93nm from OB Pass) to tuna fish. We would hit some of the drill ships in that area but never went much further towards LA. Unless we were fishing a tournament and in a "big boat". I cuaght my one and only Blue Marlin at Thunderhorse. She ate a small blackfin tuna that I was realing in. Funny thing two of my good friends were standing with me at the back of the boat when the blackfin hit the ballywhoo, it was about the 10th in a row, basically we were like no you real it in, no you do it, finally I just grabbed the rod and starting cranking, the little BF was skipping on the surface when she came up and hit it, I feed her and then lock down the drag a little and fish on. We ended up releasing her before we could stick a gaff in her when we determined she would be big enough for a kill fish. cost us 70k in the calcuta by not sticking her soon enough, broke the leader at the boat before we could say for sure big enough. Oh well, I figured we would get some good karma.

I know csb

That was Roy Crabtree's arguement against the regional management proposal. All you MS, AL and FL guys running to the MP rigs to load up on big snapper for the World Championship.
