As we all know, there are many different forms of comedy. At the time of Mad,Mad, Mad, Mad World, the world have never seen such a conglomeration of comedians in one flick. The movie was lengthy also. By the time of the intermission, people were gasping for breath from the non stop side splitting laughter and needed some recuperation time before Act 2. Some of the stunts were also classic, like the one with the airplane, never before attempted or since. Watched that flick in New Orleans with my two best friends in an elite one screen theater near the foot of Canal Street. It ran for a long time on a big screen in that theater. Will never forget it.
I've seen it since on TV a few times but there's no comparison to how it comes over on the big screen.

Horse Feathers and it ain't even close
i came in here to post Airplane.
Ferris Bueller I've always considered a comedy and would put it close to the top.
but if you're going with the great groupings of all time it's hard to top mel brooks', the zucker bros, python, etc but i absolutely love the marx bros.
duck soup, animal crackers, horse feathers, a night at the opera.
all make me laugh to this day.
i've championed this movie before but check out the marx bros homage "brain donors". which is a take on "night at the opera".
all you really need to know is jon tuturro is the groucho character.
denis dugan directed but take into acct it was made closer in time to happy gilmore and problem child than to all the more recent sandler shite bombs. also zucker bros originally produced before jumping ship to another studio.
