Nope. They are critically acclaimed, and have even released one of the seminal albums of their genre (Paul's Boutique). They are popular, with multiple hit singles and lots of record sales. They are influential, as they are one of the groups most responsible for the rise of hip hop. And they had extreme longevity, last from the mid-80s up until MCA's death last year. And, as bonus points, they made a huge cultural impact with the Tibet Freedom Concert, which they headlined.

Oh, and they are flat out great, and have a pretty diverse recording library, going from snotty punk to frat boy rap to sampling gods to ironic hipsters back to defenders of the old school. They didn't just stay in one place, they pushed things forward, right up until the end.
