Let's be honest. Part of our fanbase were attacking him from the moment he he got here and showed that he was upset he was traded. Had that "my heart is in Phoenix" quote never came out, people would still be criticizing him. Especially if he sat out even longer this season than he did. That quote didn't help his case at all. But even if that never happened, there would still be pressure from the fanbase to play him.
no one is gonna be happy with a max player that can't get on the court...one injury, ok...but when it gets to the point where he is always hurt and it's been two seasons, the situation is aggravating to fans.
His Phoenix crap undeniably made the situation much worse, but i agree with you. Fans would be agitated regardless about the star player playing 40 games in two seasons.

Ya, i don't think it was Gordon's initial reaction so much as it has been his constant injured status coupled with the Phoenix comments.

Monty really does need to run the offense through Gordon to close out games. I like Greivis but he has shown that he is bad at getting good shots late. He forces things instead of finding openings like he does throughout most of the game
I really wonder if there is a second option on the last play scenarios? It seems to me once Vasquez looks for either Gordon or Ryan and they're covered, plan b is to launch one of his prayers.

What has Gordon shown?

I get that he isn't the most jovial, outspoken guy in the world, but his monotone voice, totally nonexistent personality, and shitty body language has become grating to me, and frankly has gone a long way in me really not liking him as a player or a human being

Anderson should be the first option late. He's the best scorer on the team right now.
Give him a post-up fadeaway or let him take a 3...He can get it off over anyone and has shown a propensity for knocking down shots in the last few minutes of games.

I agree. If he was a more likable guy, fans would be more forgiving. His body language and personality seem in sync with his Phoenix comments and missing games.

If Vasquez can't get him the ball, wouldnt it be nice to see a second or even a third option before he takes his desperation shot. Last night we had about 17 seconds to get off a shot, and we ended up getting a shot that had no chance as soon as it left his fingers.

I brought up some of these thoughts last night after the game. The factors effecting EG's fourth qtr performance are many including: still getting into shape, hesitation and not fully trusting his teammates, and finally the long break he gets in the third/fourth qtr breaks all of his rhythm.
The people who say he isn't our best scorer are just being blind due to other factors (personality, injury, Phoenix comments). He had a full arsenal on display last night through the first three qtrs. He shot the ball well, got into the lane at will, and passed very well. When he came into the game after sitting for almost a full quarter he could not regain any rhythm. Call it an excuse, bash me, or whatever, but it is incredibly difficulty to sit for that long every second half and come in and be dominant. Even with the subpar performance in the last 4 minutes he finished as our leading scorer (tied with 2 others) on 7-14 from the field including 3-6 from three.

Gordon, at the top of his game, could be elite. We're sort of "all in" with the guy for at least the beginning of next season. I'm hoping he gets healthy and in consistent playing shape. Bitching about him is useless.

Now I can't speak for others but I got over his crying from the summer. My prob with him is his lack of shooting ability and his crucial late game turnover that is higher than his ft %.
There definitely weren't as many of them, but there were definitely a good number of people who never gave him a chance. That's why I said, "part of our fanbase". They were too offended when he didn't embrace the city on day 1. Those were the irrational people.
I understand those who got sick of him from his crying over the summer. That's reasonable. But, even if he didn't act like a little baby over the summer, people would still be impatient with him and his injury because they didn't get to see much of him the year before.

Couldn't agree more. It's the injuries that really made the fans impatient. What he did in the offseason didn't help his cause. But fans would be annoyed with his lack of play regardless.
