Why in the hell would they hire him again?

Good question, one that I do not have the answer to.

Because he wasn't bad there and they fired him for things that were proven to not be his fault.

$$$$$$, fame, and easy recruiting. It's not like other top college jobs are beating down the doors to get Tim Floyd as their head coach.

To have a better chance at winning than he does in his current job.

One of the USC fans will have to remind us which AD fired him, because I don't remember. But it may not be the one that is there now.

So. There's plenty of qualified coaches out there. If you're a program as big as USC why go after your own retread?

Who is USC likely to get that's better? It's still USC basketball. He was the best coach in the school's history.

If a nowhere basketball program like Oregon can swing Dana Altman I'm sure USC won't be left with hiring some Rick Ray type coach. Haven't ya'll been trying to get Jamie Dixon forever? Test him out maybe the conference alignment has made him not as attached to Pitt.

USC basketball is a crappy program but USC's name carries weight no matter what. With a newer building and with talent always available USC can make a good hire and not have to settle on it's own retread.

He's a retread because Mike Garrett was trying to save his own arse, not because he didn't win.

They've tried to get Dixon multiple times and it's just not going to happen, especially as long as Howland is at UCLA. The only other guy that would be better than Floyd is Alford.

The other options are pretty bleak.

Freaking South Carolina managed to pull Frank Martin out of their asses. There's always options for an athletic department that big with that much money(if they want to spend it).
