What range (distance) do you usually practice at and what are you shooting?

Tons of edits for clarity to avoid the power pole

7 to 10 yards for self defense purposes.... 25 yards for target shooting

Big handgun, out to 75 yards, but my .44 mag has a scope. .40 and .45 anywere from 5 yards out to 25 yards. .22's out to 50 yards. My goto gun for tree rats.

What do y'all think is a good range to practice at for an open sighted 357 for hunting? I've been shooting mostly at 50.

10-20 yards generally.

Sometimes I'll shoot further just for kicks.

For deer hunting with the 357, I would think 30-50 yds. 50 yds would be about the max IMO.

Kinda what I'm thinking. I do some 75 and 100 yard launching just for the hell of it sometimes but not often.

I'm shooting at a 12" plate and hitting it 4 out of 6 times at 50 usually. Y'all think that's doing good enough to take a shot at a deer that far?

I think your odds would go to about 1 and 6 if that was a real deer.

I think so. No doubt you can hit vitals with that.

What you gonna try to sling at em? Buffalo Bore 158s?

Since you hunt in front of dogs, I say no. For real tho, you gonna be shaking ALOT worse when that deer walks out that you are shooting at a plate so I still say no.

No way I'd even consider trying it on anything other than a doe, so hopefully the nerves won't kill me.

Jab, I'm shooting all kinds of shite, but if I'll be using BB180s for deer.

Y'all think the pistol nerves will be like bow nerves? I cold-heart execute does with my rifle.

My favorite load.

I think the nerves would be similar to bow, maybe a little bit less.

I don't bring my damn pistol on dog hunts

Do y'all like to practice at the max range you can get consistent hits or closer than that?

I practice at multiple ranges. Usually going as far out as 50 yards.

If you are handloading and go up to a 180gr, that should be able to do the kill job at 75 yards. Open sights, I push it at 50 yards with my .22 tree rat hunting. I miss way more then I hit once I get out past 25 yards, but get more shots off.

I like your choice. I hunt with the same type gun. I dont practice much past 30 yards because of blured eye sight. Considering another gun with a scope to help with eye sight issue.
