I know quite a few of these guys up there. Haines is becoming one of the premiere heli-skiing, if not outdoor areas in the world. The Coastal ranges around here can get up to 100 ft of snow in a year.

UPDATE: Heli-ski guide dies in mountains near Haines
DAN JOLING,Associated Press
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Alaska State Troopers say a 34-year old heli-skiing guide died Sunday in a backcountry incident on a mountain near Haines.
Spokeswoman Megan Peters says Christian Arcadio Cabanilla was killed.
Peters says Cabanilla and two clients were traversing an area when snow gave way underneath them and they fell down the mountain.
The other two skiers suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Cabanilla was found unconscious and was taken to a Haines clinic, where he was pronounced dead.
Troopers were notified at about 1:13 p.m. Sunday.
