I'm in same position. I have plenty of turkeys that get little pressure, but I've never hunted them before.
I tried once last year solo with no luck.
Talking with a cousin now that has more experience. Plan to go with him to scout the area this weekend and then try to get a few hunts in.
As for equipment, a locator call (crow or owl) a turkey call you are competent with - I'm fairly decent with a box or slate, cant use a mouth call yet.
and then cammo and gun with proper shot and choke.
A seat pad or stool is helpful.
Decoys are legal in AL but ive never tried to use them.
