Back on 12/28. Some of you were about to throw in the towel.

Turns out the Lady Eagles were pretty good, they have not lost since the LSU game. Their win over the Lady Tigers started a run of 19 consecutive wins (and counting). They look to make it 20 when they open tournament play against a team they beat yesterday by 40.

Granted, they play in a minor conference but they aren't slackers.

I tried saying this when the lose happened. FGCU was 29-3 last year, they're a good mid-major program in a lot of sports. Their men's basketball team beat Miami and their baseball team swept Florida.

That loss to Tulane was a lot worse. Then they started SEC play 4-6..

They're on a hot streak. I'm glad they'll make the tourney because it sure didn't look like they would for a while there.

I don't care about women's basketball either, but I do care about LSU women's basketball, as I do all the other LSU sports.

As an ex-LSU player and Alum, (Who, what, when? That's for me to know and for all the geeks to find out. The mystery makes it more interesting) I want ALL the LSU athletic teams to excel. Players tend to have a higher standard of success that just common every day fans and message board geeks that have never played any organized sports.

We used to say "If you don't finish in first, you might as well be in last." Not satisfied finishing in second, third or fourth place. (Like all the Sunshine Pumpers, Cheerleaders and Excuse Makers apparently are)

LSU women's basketball is no exception. Yeah, they're on a hot streak, but there is no excuse for losing to teams like Florida Gulf Coast or Tulane. Unacceptable. No excuses. You get over paid a wretched excess $900,000 salary and you better put something better than that out on the court. If your pay is more than the LSU Offensive Coordinator in football, you better be lodged securely in the Top Ten, bringing home Championships and Final Fours for that kind of change.

Caldwell doesn't make that much

So she should just flip the switch and overnight they're back in the top ten because of her salary? That's stupid.

Oviously we have some stupid ex-players. I would not want to be known either.

saintsfan, my sentiments exactly.

This is what I DON'T understand about the people so critical of our coach.........................in 1 and 3/4 seasons, how much better do you expect the coach to do? Last season, her first season, the team finished 24-11 and made it to the SEC Tournament championship game. This season, there are EIGHT PLAYERS left on the roster, HALF of which are freshmen and sophomores. I mean, were people REALLY expecting championships as soon as she stepped on campus? She doesn't get an opportunity to get her recruits and fully establish her philosophy?

NONSENSE!

If you ain't first your last! But oh wait if we would've beat tulane and Florida gulf coast then we would be number one... Incorrect I don't expect every team that pays a coach to go undefeated every year. She's had the team under 2 years and people what undefeated seasons and championships. Lol

The opposite of love is not hate. It's indifference

These threads and game attendance show how much indifference there is for WBB program

Not really............
The women's basketball program had a great following during the years when the team was winning SEC championships and going to final fours. Once that stopped, attendance fell, and interest waned................................kinda like our men's basketball program. It's just a matter of time before the fans start to come out again. But, you've got to build an elite winner in order to do that. THAT takes time.

I don't think anyone remembers. Nobody really cares about women's basketball.

Great following? Did not even average 10,000+ per game during final four seasons. Please do not make me do the research again.

Oh please..................

10K per game is not the standard for a great following. Its women's basketball. It's not going to garner the SAME following that men's basketball does. But to try and assert that no one cares, and that there's no potential to build the fan base, means someone is either blind to what the team did during it's elite years, or just doesn't want the program to succeed. During those years, the LSU women's basketball program was top ten in attendance in the nation on more than one occasion. What is wrong with striving to reach that kind of following? Averaging 10k per game is a little unfair.......................especially since the men's team at LSU rarely does.

If there's "indifference" its because the team hasn't been winning. Not because there's "no interest". Then again, what do you define as "interest"?

First of all plenty of us care about WBB, so the old thread of "who cares" can go somewhere else. No, it is not for most (me included) near as important as football, but as others have said, LSU built a real power in WBB in past 10 or so years and many of us "care" that it continues.

I know FGU is a solid mid major and while I hated losing to them I can accept it, the losses to Tulane (two times in a row now) and hampton were simply bad losses. However, the team's turn around from 4-6 in SEC is awesome and shows great talent and heart and coaching. No, just as I got heat for making too early negatives against Saint Caldwell, I have said all along she needs 3-4 years to see her true worth. To date I am satisfied with on the court product (was not when we were 4-6) but do feel strongly the assistant coach arrest needs to be addressed and that attitude of the other coaches is not appropriate. Have laid out my reasons many times, but will say as long as we win big, not sure any of the other stuff matters as much. Time will tell on NC, but past few weeks have been awesome. And $700k is NOT too much for a top 5 top coach if that is what she turns out to be.
