Texas usually has recruiting finished by June. Guess the five guys from Louisiana that start for aTm were stolen from LSU.Texas, like Louisiana produces more players than they can take.Brown selects his players during camps and usually has recruiting finished by the summer before national signing day the following Feb.

Brockers was a good prospect, but Texas had wrapped up their recruiting by the time Brockers commited to LSU. Texas liked Vaccoro better than Loston. He is better than Loston. Mack told Shep he would not play QB at Texas.

Everybody gets good players from Texas because of the quanity of talent.Did Arky take Peters from LSU?Did Ole Miss take Mike Wallace and Ben Jarvis Green Ellis from LSU? See how that goes!

If Texas starts targeting Louisiana, they will be a serious threat like Bama.

Mack Brown was on the LSU staff thirty years ago and was their best recruiter. LSU offered him the LSU job after Hallman was fired but he turned it down.

Yep. Based on the past several years, Mack Brown clearly knows what he's doing. . . How can LSU compete with UT's success?

You make it sound like Texas and Mack Brown are the only one's that use camps to evaluate and lock up recruits. LSU, Bama and all top programs are doing that and have for several years. If they stop recruiting by June and pass on late bloomers as you suggest, well that explains 22-16 the last 3 years. That would be lazy and freaking stupid.

I have never understood why Texas does not recruit more nationally. Sure Texas produces a lot of talent, but they have the name and the appeal of Austin they should be able to recruit nationally. I think arrogance and laziness are the reasons they don't. However, I'm not the least bit concerned about Texas targeting La. As big of threat as Bama is, we've still only lost 1 guy, Collins, that we really fought for. And if they do target La, that just leaves more guy's open in Texas.

I know you are probably trolling, but this is taking it to a new level. 30 years ago? really? When Mack Brown was on the LSU staff the HC at Alabama was Bear Bryant. No one disputes he is a great recruiter, that's been his best attribute at Texas, but his time is past. He's done.

IIRC we technically did not offer him the job because is salary demands were more than cheap arse Joe Dean wanted to pay. I would have loved Mack Brown in 1994, not so much in 2013.

This is complete bullshite. he did a great job with Risher, but he wasn't here long enough to even know if he was a great recruiter. Coach Stovall and Coach Jenkins were our best Recruiters, PERIOD.

Again u are misinformed, while Alabama is our #1 threat thats all they are. They dont win many battles with us. We had given up on Williams way before Alabama came into the picture. They got Collins and Devall other than that, its been pretty slim pickings over here for Nicky who coached here. If they ran a 4-3 the pickings would be even slimmer.
I dont understand why u continue to think Alabama comes into Louisiana and takes who they want. Again Miles has kept his top talent in La as well as anyone in the SEC. How can u dispute this?
This post was about Texas building a pipeline into La this yr and stealing our top 2014 prospects. This is hilarious at this point in time. With Brown there this is not going to happen period much less next yr. He has been a huge underachiever at the helm of the Longhorns. They are not even the top dog in their own state in recruiting and deservedly so.
