Hatch Chili peppers-where to get seeds/plants???

Wondering if anyone knows where to get some hatch chili pepper seeds or plant & if anyone here has ever been successful planting them in South Louisiana. Most of them come from New Mexico-very dry & arid-, just wondering if they'd do well in the hot, humid, tropics of S Louisiana. Hatch chili sauce is addictive & after a recent stay in Austin, I am addicted & would love to have a supply of my own.

I've ordered pepper seeds from here and have been happy with the results. Considering they are the chili pepper institute, I don't think you can go wrong.

LOVE Hatch chili season! When it is season, the HEB stores here in Houston usually have a huge roaster outside where they roast them while you wait! Delicious!!

August-September. I buy 10 lbs, roast myself and freeze them to get me through the winter.

What makes these any better than another?

They have, according to myself & others, a very distinct & superior taste raw, roasted, or when made into batches of Hatch chili sauces. There is actually no species of pepper named "Hatch" that is the place in NM that this particular pepper was grown but most people recognize & use "hatch" when referring to the pepper. Following the awesome links provided-thanks guys-I was able to order some "hatch"-type pepper seeds (the web page gives you the rundown of the story & the engineering of seeds to meet the expectations of the actual peppers that started the "hatch" craze). This pepper is a big deal in the West & SW, & after having s few dishes with it, I see why. I want to make some salsas, stuff a few, roast some, & put some up for the winter. I enjoy finding new ingredients & garden varieties.
