I remember early during our 56 win 2007-2008 season, we played Detroit and only 9,000 people were there. We're just not a basketball state, and people won't show up unless we're winning.

The idea of a "basketball state" is a figment of the imagination of some.

They were giving away free tickets to a Seattle Supersonics game that year. As a college kid, I was grateful there was an NBA team in LA.
