Strength and Conditioning

LSU players at the combine are underwhelming and disappointing when it comes to the bench press. Our S&T coaches at LSU never seem to be under pressure but when it comes to how our players stack up against the rest of the country its not impressive. The Combine is the only real litmus test for the strength (numbers wise) of college players and judging by thee results, our former players perform poorly. Anyone think this department of our football program should be under a closer watch?

A lot of it is why do those players do on their own. They probably don't workout with those coaches after season is over.

there are other lifts and exercises that are more important to on-the-field production than the bench press... the bench press is not nearly as important as many people seem to think it is.

Not this thread again.
To answer your question, no. Bench press isn't a good measure of football strength. Also the only one who underperformed is Mathieu.

Tommy Moffit is the best S&C coach in the country. His list of disciples at other schools is unreal. just because bench press numbers aren't as impressive as you'd like them to be, that doesn't mean he's not doing his job. Bench press is such an ridiculous metric to use as to how prepared players are to play football.

So because some players cant bench press you think our S&C is not up to par.Keep thinking that. Poor Tommy Moffitt he is so lost.

Good point, it isn't an accurate measure of strength. How about our player getting hurt so much in big games? Moffitt have anything to do with this?

This year was a fluke with all the injuries. Remember 2011? We were very healthy that year.

Pretty much every college coach out there would give their left nut to have our S&C coach.

no
Ford, Reid, Edwards, Mingo, Montgomery, Logan, Lonergan, Faulk all looked like they should.
S&C gets no credit/discredit for TM7, imo. They only had him for 2 years. Simon is thin with long arms, so it makes sense he won't lift several reps, but ran as expected.
