It shows prominent Republicans are not afraid to buck their party's platform and publicly state that ALL Americans should be treated equally.
Very powerful. There is still a lot of push back in the GOP for supporting this. The head of the IL GOP is about to get canned because he publicly stated that IL should legalize gay marriage and treat everyone equally.
