Better competition will get the fans into the games again. One or two of these teams a year would be fine with me. If we can start being competitive on a national level again.

Getting the band to fire up the crowd is a great touch, and LSU should do everything they can to make the PMAC exciting again. The band's pregame is part of LSU lore, and just makes the environment special

Disagree on the sentiment of avoiding big-name teams. We SHOULD schedule big teams, home-and-home would be ideal. There really is no downside; so what if you lose? What you're doing is re-establishing that LSU DOES have a basketball team that plays in the same field as the Dukes and Carolinas of the world, and that puts our name out on Sportscenter.
Chris Jackson's 1st year we played Kansas and Illinois at home and lost; but the team got recognition.
Memorable games from the past include the Arizona games, we all remember Shaq and Swift leading LSU to wins over respected opponents in frenzied environments. Beating Ohio St introduced Glen Davis to the world. Losing to Marquette still helped establish Trent Johnson's 1st team as a good one.

We gotta re-enter the bigger college basketball scene in order to become good again. Play the big boys, find out what you need to get better, and go get the players to do that.
