How long does it take to make a sports game engine?

Seriously, how long will it take EA and 2K to make engines for the PS4 and XBOX? I don't think EA will have any excuse to continue to make such crappy CFB games.

EA doesn't care because they have a monopoly.

EA pretty much blew up the game engine when it made the console jump and set the game back years.

They're the only ones who make college football games and the only ones who make pro football games. There's no other option outside of themselves.

The NFL contract is still intact. The anti-trust settlement only affected the NCAA Football and Arena Football (defunct anyway) franchises.

EA can enter into another exclusive contract of the same nature with the NCAA as early as 2019, so anyone who wants to attempt a market coup had better start developing a kickass engine now.
