Liberalism is great , till you run out of other people's money. Would be there Nationally if not for the printing presses, taking money from our kids.

The question is WHY did Detroit lose 2/3rds of it population in 50 years?

You are obviously a complete dumbass, that has no idea of what is going on. We have a pretty good economy compared to a lot of the nation and our state MUST balance the budget, MEANING WE CAN'T SPEND MORE THAT WE TAKE IN! We are not Detroit.

What is funny is that I have heard liberals state that the failure of Detroit is rooted in racism...in white flight...white people left with their tax money and that is why Detroit is in the shape it is in...pure racism. What say you?

The flight from Detroit is a reason it is so shitty but not because of racism..people with money left because it was getting so shitty and they were losing their jobs due to liberal policies killing the manufacturing, and also higher rate of crime. Every city has its "white flight" where the richer leave the city to get away from the poorer areas, but still they live in the suburbs and commute to their place of work. Detroit had no place to work, so therefore nobody stayed in the general area.

There will be riots and burnings ,but ,they are going to have to do 2 things. First pay the retirees 2/3's of last 3 years pay average, not 90% of beefed up pay the last year. Medical insurance can NOT be paid 100% by the city, it will have to change to 50/50 employee and city, plus some co-pay and deductable when used. All current workers are going to have to pay a little more into retirement and insurance also, to beef up the fund over a 10 years period. Only a Bankruptcy judge can order this, the Union will NEVER accept this, even if it's the right thing to do to help them that are receiving the funds. It's going to be all over the country soon, Chicago, Milwaukee, and California are close to the same situation.

The Unions ruined the automobile industry, just like steel, iron, and clothing mfg'ing. All overseas now. No jobs left in Detroit, they left when car plants closed. Not racism at all, unionism did this in Detroit.

My gym buddy, UAW, disagrees with you. In fact we had an argument today about gas prices. UAW: Man, gas prices are really going up. Me: Yep. If Obama would allow drilling in restricted areas and pass the keystone pipeline and not be such an adversary to oil companies the prices would be low. UAW: Nope. It's not Obama. He's trying to help things the best he can. It's the big oil companies. They stop producing gas on purpose so there will be a shortage. That makes the price go up so they can get more money.

Yeah, has nothing to do with tourism dollars, oil companies, and making businesses more attractive through tax incentives. It's def. the oil spill....

Great, now all the decades of financial mismanagement will be swept under the rug and all blame will go to a Republican governor for "not fixing it"! How convenient for Democrats and the news media!
