I fished a tournament this weeken and spent 200 bucks on gas between my boat and truck to pull the boat . Add in the 30 bucks for a gallon of 2 cycle , 30 bucks to fish the tournament and 20 worth of food and drinks . Add that up and it cost me 270 dollars to fish for one day

Try offshore fishing for a 3 day tournament.
$1000 will not even get you off the dock.
