Uncle and grandfather had a homemade floor safe and cut out back wall in closet at my grandmothers. Uncle died in 75 and grandfather in 83.

When my grandmother died in 2008 i found 7 guns hidden in her house. Some never fired.

Ok, I was just trying to give you an idea on determining if the attic would be suitable for gun storage. You could get some of the radiant foil bubble rolls found at HD or lowes to help with insulating the area for the safe. Or build it in-between wall studs in a closet, like others have mentioned. Good luck
