Actors who left Successful TV Shows too early

With all the talk about Dan Stevens and DA, I was thinking of other famous actors who left successful TV shows too early. Who do you think is the biggest idiot for leaving their highly successful TV show to languish in obscurity? Add more that you can think of. Here are a few to ponder:
Dan Stevens-Downton Abbey 25 of 26 episodes (still running)
Wayne Rogers-MASH 73 of 251 episodes
McClean Stevenson-MASH 70 of 251 episodes
Jeffery Hunter-Star Trek Was the first Captain of The Enterprise but left after the pilot because his wife said he was a movie star. My vote for biggest idiot.
Pernell Roberts-Bonanza 199 of 429 episodes
Shelly Long-Cheers 124 of 271 episodes

David Carusso - NYPD Blue, poster child for this idiocy.
Took him a long time to climb back after his movie career flop.

Sasha Alexander kinda fell off the planet after leaving NCIS. Was a while before getting the Rizzoli and Isles gig.

I don't have much to contribute, so I'll just do this:
What a douche.

Hunter also died in 1969, after Star Trek became a cult success but before it really took off in reruns during the 70s.
It would have been hard to do a revival movie of Star Trek in the 70s if they had a completely new captain instead of returning the entire main cast.

Farrah Fawcett left Charlie's Angels after one season...
Suzanne Sommers left Three's Company early too...
Yes I'm old.

Rob Lowe in West Wing.
I'm still mad about that.

I understand that David Caruso is often made fun of for this, but why was it a bad choice at the time?
Was his movie career flop seen from a mile away or something?

The biggest idiot was without question Maclean Stevenson. His career never recovered.
How many great roles did he expect to get in one lifetime? He was no leading man -- which may have been part of the problem. He auditioned for the role of Hawkeye, and supposedly was always bitter he didn't get it.
MS leaving MASH was even more disastrous since Henry Blake was one of my favorite supporting TV characters of all time, and an integral part of the show. His leaving damaged it permanently, and began a very long downhill slide -- perhaps the biggest in TV history.

Katherine Hiegl was also stupid to leave Grey's Anatomy. She just upped and left because she thought her movie career was about to take off after the success of Knocked Up. She hasn't been in anything of relevance since.

Steve Carrell from the office. Had he actually been in a movie worthwhile since the departure I would understand, but he's basically played Michael Scott in all of the ones he has been in. He nearly killed it Bc last season was pretty horrible. It took until just about into this season for it to become actually laugh out loud funny again.
