Its usually a guy spreading the floor, running the clock all the way down, and eventually taking a long contested jumper.
It's also getting to the basket, getting to the elbow or creating a breakdown of the defense that causes help-side defense leading to an open shot for a teammate.
But, you know that already.
I just don't think we can let Gordon go for just Klay Thompson. Love Klay, but not enough.

I'm sorry, but Klay Thompson isn't anywhere close to the level of player that Gordon is. Gordon is having his worst year ever and still has a better PER and scores the same amount as Klay in less minutes. Klay isn't as good at creating his own shot, either. We won't have anyone to go to at the end of games, and that's pretty key in the playoffs. I don't know how Klay is on defense but I'd be surprised if he's anywhere close to Gordon on that end, either.

What people are arguing is the pros-cons of having a healthy, dependable player on the floor. I think.
I believe everyone would agree that Gordon is the better player; but Klay is the cheaper, healthier player. And that's why they would be in favor of a deal like this one.

Yeah that is certainly a valid point, but like you said, Gordon has potential to be a MUCH better piece for us if he can possibly stay healthy, so I don't think there's any reason to downgrade in a trade like this unless Gordon really wants out.

But that's a huge if. He's the SG version of Bynum. He even compared his knee condition to Bynum's. I'm not in a hurry to move him, but he needs to be traded eventually IMO. I just don't see him as part of a Davis lead contender.

Unfortunately, I believe this to be true and have thought that way for a while now

Yeah, it's unfortunately looking more like that every day unless he can somehow get healthier in the next year or so. It'll be tough to find an elite scorer to replace him.

My man, finally seeing the light.
It's ok. We don't bite.

I'm not in love with Gordon or anything.
I've always wanted what's best for the Hornets/Pelicans, and I thought that a healthy Gordon was easily what we needed. If he can't fulfill the healthy aspect then we need to find a way to replace him. It won't be easy, though.

My opinion on Gordon and his health as it pertains to this year and the future is such:
This year is a throwaway. We're rebuilding. We're getting guys minutes and developing talent. I would LOVE to see EG on the court every single night for 35+ minutes a night. But honestly, the year the way it is, not even in playoff contention with EG on the floor every night, I just don't see the big deal in him sitting. We can't trade him now. Even if he was balling outta control and healthy, we still don't have much leverage in the trade market for him. And if he was ballin outta control and healthy, we wouldn't consider trading him.
So realistically, if we move him eventually (solid possibility, imo) it will be next season at the absolute earliest. If he can get on the floor for decent minutes every few games it's of no consequence to me as a fan, because I realize this year is not about making a run. It's just not. No need to get all pissy about one player "being a bitch" because even if he wasn't a "bitch" and played every game from here on out, we'd still be a long way from sniffing the playoffs.
I'm just enjoying this season (as tough as it is, but hey, I fricking love the NBA and idgaf if we suck this year. It's better to have a crappy team than no team at all). Now if he's having issues throughout the offseason and enter next year my tune will change and I will no longer "support" the idea of EG in a Pelicans uni.
This current situation is what it is, and there's nothing the Hornets can do about it unless we want to get assfricked by the other 29 GM's in the L. The trade value for EG could fall, but not by that much. Conversely, the trade value of EG could improve dramatically, and maybe even to the point that we don't want to trade him.
I just don't see any valid reason to throw in the towel on him when this year is garbage anyway.

That my friend has become an untrue statement
re: Please let this trade happenPosted by Gtothemoney on 2/17/13 at 9:01 pm to JohnnyKilroy
I dont know dude. It can not ever be good when your highest paid player pretty much rubs it in our faces that he would rather play somewhere else, and pretty much is forced to play with with our team. Then the night before his season debut, his head coach has to make a public statement for the fans not to boo him.
If you look in your heart of hearts, you know that dude isn't totally committed to this squad like us fans.
Like I said the other night, we probably will get the shite end if we were to trade him. But, aren't you tired of dealing with this same shite every week? What in the past few years have you seen to make you think that he is gonna wake up one day and say, "Hey, I'm down with the 504". Isn't this scenario the definition of insanity? Know what I mean?

He's played in 23% of games since coming to NOLA
Last year it was "hey, we aren't good, lets not rush him back."
This year it's, "lets, not rush him back. We aren't winning anyway and we can develop younger guys."
For one, no shite we aren't winning. Our best player can't get on the floor. If our winning % with Gordon is any indication, we'd be fighting for the playoffs. So get that "we're not winning anyway" shite out of here. Being content with that breeds the losers mentality that we have become accustomed to in NOLA
Two, we don't have a young guy who is getting developed at the expense of Gordon's injury. Rivers see the majority of his time at pg.
There is nothing positive about Gordon being a fragile, injured player.

In a second, and I'm not a guy who really wants to see Gordon traded.
But for Thompson/Biedrins/Green? Nah.

This "yea, we suck, but we're rebuilding" attitude on this board is nauseating
That's a nice way of saying "this franchise sucks"

So let me ask you, do you think this team has the talent or trade chips to turn into a contender by the end of the season? Or next year?
