I still have nightmares about the passive Bayern that doesn't have any sort of killer instinct. Ever since Jupp got cranky, they've been playing much harder though. As soon as Pep was announced it seemed like Jupp said "frick dis, I'm winnin errythang"

I hope they go and try to get some goals in London. I'm worried about van Buyten trying to keep pace with Walcott and even Poldi but Dante is a rock and Javi and Schweiny should be able to disrupt Arteta and Cazorla enough to keep a lot of possession.

I thought this was an interesting stat:

quote:

For Arsenal, the Champions League meetings could prove uncomfortable, in more ways than one.

Their business model is similar to Bayern's, and they are spending a nearly identical amount of money on wages - £143m in 2011-12 compared to Bayern's £140m - but the two clubs have moved in opposite directions since last crossing swords in 2004-05.

Who is Arsenal spending all of that money on?

I think the UCL finals loss coupled with Euro disappointment, Sammer hire, and the addition of 5 players competing for starting positions has lit a fire under the collective arse of the old complacent Bayern squad we saw so often last year. We managed to get over the lull of the first few matches back from winter break, so I think it is smooth sailing from here on.

Yeah I saw that wage stat a few weeks ago. Bayern doesn't exactly have a miniscule payroll, but they really don't spend as much as they could. I know Ribery is the highest on the squad with right above 10mm a year. After that I'm not sure. I'm not sure where I'm remembering this from, but I think Javi makes either 7mm or 5 mm and he was rumored to have given up 2mm from his salary every year of his contract to 'lower' his transfer price by 10mm. I never got a confirmation on that, I know he's a really humble dude though. After hearing that he had a 6mm transfer tag on him before playing a professional game, I wasn't worried that he would feel the pressure of 40mm. He's a true professional and seems to be getting on really well with the guys.

Shaq and mandzo post the most absurd pictures on twitter, they look like theyre having the time of their life everyday it's awesome to see. Mandzo is even telling the media that Gomez should start more. He's a wild arse.
