A great game, especially in the second half, by the Lady Tigers. As bad as her shooting performance against Georgia was, Ballard was just as GOOD today going 7-9 with 19 pts (4 steals, 7 rebounds, 2 ast). She continues to show why she is has a very good chance to win SEC freshman of the year. Plaisance continued her good play with 14 pts (3-4 from 3 pt) and 7 reb............which keeps her in the running for SEC player of the year. And of course, Webb continues her consistent play with 16 pts. All together a great effort by Nikki and the Lady Tigers!

Miss st is one of the worst teams in d1 of all bcs schools. LSU has gotten better but this game is not an example and Nikki's verdict is still out. Yes I think they are better but come on lsualum this is not a quality win. Now uga win is a high q win

I don't recall anyone saying this was a "quality win". In fact, right now "quality wins" is not the concern. WINS, period are the concern. The Lady Tigers played a great game and won against an opponent they should've beaten. But let's not make it seem like this is still not a good win. The way they played was reflective of the improvement they've shown over the past few weeks.

As far as the "verdict" on Nikki..........I think the only ones who still think that are folks who are negative towards the program because they think we were supposed to keep old man Van, or they long for the days of Sue Gunter. Either way, it's high time to get with the program. Nikki is our coach and will be the coach for the forseeable future. Especially as long as she continues to do a great job.

If they go 2-2 to wrap up the regular season and finish 8-8 in league, they are seriously right on the bubble. That would put them at 17-12 for the year and having to win a bare minimum of 1 at the SEC tournament. The good thing is that LSU is going to be probably a 6-7 seed, meaning a good chance at a win vs. 10 or 11, which is likely to be Arkansas, Florida or Missouri. A win would mean a second round matchup with Kentucky/Tennessee/Texas A&M.

If LSU stumbles to 1-3 over the final four games, they are toast.

If LSU goes 3-1 the last four games, I think they are in because it means they would have beaten either Kentucky or Texas A&M and would be 9-7 in the league.

As mentioned earlier, the Missouri game Thursday is HUUUUUGE.

Yep it is. Still think we need one more big win on our resume. Best chance to get it will come Sunday.

Agreed. We have played Kentucky tough the last couple of years and they are beatable at our place. I don't think we go into College Station and win next week. I think they are actually the best team in the league.

Either way, it's high time to get with the program. Nikki is our coach and will be the coach for the forseeable future. Especially as long as she continues to do a great job.

once agin you generalize, I thought was time for Van to go and was ready for a new coach, I also liked NC hire. I have changed my mind and now think she is not only done a sub par job but they she is not right for LSU. She is too arrogant, her staff has embarrased us and the team is looking to have our worst year in 14 years...in what you call a "rebuilding year" we returned 64% of our scoring and she did sign 2 top 100 players, one of whom is now (due to character issues) off the team, maybe for good.

So like you this is IMO, just as your usuage of 'great" and your implication that anyone who disagrees with you longs for Van/Sue. Sure I long for Sue, she was 100% class and got the program to the point where they could (with some great on court work from Pokey) go to 5 final fours. IMO the lack of class in this staff makes me "long" for their departure. But we will find out the truth, becuase if I am right NC will either leave for another job or be fired in 2-3 years, or she will win big and stay more than 5 years and you will be right..let's see what happens...If I am wrong, I will admit it, and if you are, I look for same...

Not sure where the 64% comes from....last year's team averaged 62.2 points and returned 28.8 ppg for a percent of 46.3 returning.

She is too arrogant,

Why would you say that? Everything I see and hear is positive about her personal actions and behavior.

her staff has embarrased us

An assistant coach having a baby is not embarrassing. An assistant coach going to jail for a bar disturbance is very embarrassing.

she is not right for LSU

I dunno. We all have been back and forth on it. All of the diehards I associate with at games and such think she is great. We just have to give it time.

Exactly LSUGrad9295^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^!

I don't think the staff has "embarrassed" us or the program. One assistant coach who got a misdemeanor charge is not a major "embarrassment".

Everything I've heard has been positive, for the most par. Are there some things that Nikki does or doesn't do, that the previous staffs did or didn't do..............? Of course! But she's the head of the program and it is what it is.

She's gonna leave in 2-3 years? For what? For who? Tennessee? Holly's not leaving there any time soon. There's no other programs out there that will outspend LSU to get her. So, as I've said previously, she's our coach for the foreseeable future. Be happy that she's got the program headed in the right direction instead of where Van had it headed. Recruiting looks good and this young team is looking better and better. Also........we may have returned a good amount of the SCORING from last year, but we lost a TON on defense...............and that is the area that this present team has most struggled in. Now, the defense is actually starting to come around. Good things are on the horizon.

The one knock that I have heard is that she doesn't reach out to alumni of the program very well. I hope that either this is incorrect or that she corrects it before it becomes a problem. The alumni of this program can be very valuable assets to her if she will allow it.
