Catholic Friday childhood Lenten staples...

Of course we had the classic crawfish/shrimp boil, fried seafood, and catfish couvillion, seafood gumbo Fridays but what were some of your Mom's "not so classic" Lent dishes you remember as a kid.

A very excellent vegetarian white bean soup made back when stick blenders didn't exist, so "ricers" did the pureeing.

God, we ate so many fish sticks in the 70s! Also used to have pancakes for dinner sometimes. We liked the pancakes better.

At school it was usually fish sticks or red beans and rice. At home it was a shrimp po boy or crawfish. Mom and dad doin' it right.
