I have one too. Can a zombie starve after a time of not eating meat? We are told only a shot to the brain stem will kill them. If they do not die from starving, then why the need to eat meat at all?

The scientist in Woodberry said that they are starving, just at a slower rate than live humans.

The need to eat meat is just an instinct to feed.

The "scientist" in Woodbury had already observed that they were starving. It's just at a much slower rate than humans.
