TWD Zombie Question

In season one the zombies seem a lot faster and more violent. They were still this way in the first part of Season 2, but after that they just became boring. They would actually attack you and run for you, instead of just walking around slow and dumb-like. They even had a zombie climb a chain link fence in Season 1 Episode 2 when they were escaping Atlanta yet a wooden fence stopped an entire herd of them in Season 2. Is there a reason for this, or just the writers changing the way they act?

I noticed that too. I chalked it up to the fact that time is passing, there are less people thus they are feeding less and have less energy...
Maybe I'm over thinking it. Season one they were using tools and shite.

Never seen the show, but maybe the disease they have is making them weaker and weaker?

It has been told before that fresher zombies are faster. A wooden fence didn't stop a whole herd. It was just implied.

They are decomposing, starving, and just overall getting weaker.
Most of the population died in the beginning, thus why you haven't seen any "fresh" walkers. Survivors are scarce, and most animals can outrun the dead. The people that are still alive probably have their shite together or in a system that has worked for over a year.

The longer a dead body with no blood circulation exists, the more it breaks down. The more it breaks down, the less strong it is. Simple as that.
