it's been mentioned several times, but that was not lucky. let's, for the sake of argument, say it wasn't a homerun and only a double. the game is tied with morris on 2nd base. morris batted .400 for the season. he hit .369 in 95 with 8 home runs. there's a difference in a lucky play and a clutch play. a game winning home run is not lucky. i've always thought it was a disservice to morris as a player when people make it out to be he was the least likely guy to come up with a clutch hit when he was arguably the best contact hitter on the team outside of eddy furniss and maybe jason williams.

Agreed. After being down several times, and by as much as 3 at one time IIRC, the team put themselves in a position to tie (even with a shallow single, 'cause we had a guy on 3rd) or win the ballgame. Then Morris made great contact on a great pitch. Probably the most exciting sport ending I've ever seen - but I wouldn't call it luck.
