I figured you were going to go with Spin Doctors.
I always liked the Spin Doctors. Still do. Great pop band. The world needs more good pop bands.
ETA: I met the drummer at a Bar Mitvah in 1992 or so. He gave me a copy of their demo: Yo Mamma's a Pajama/Big Fat Funky Booty. It was great.

Billy Joel. I blindly worked as an usher for a concert when I was in college. Ended up being Billy Joel. The concert was one of the best i have ever been to. The two parts that stick out to me where, before the concert, and before people were let in, we were getting instructions, and BJ's band was warming up. They were playing Kashmir, and it gave me goosebumps. Keep in mind, I never really listen to Billy Joel, and knew maybe a couple of his songs, but later he sang Piano Man, and the arena erupted, and sang the whole chorus word for word. Was pretty awesome. I'll nevee forger it. Kemper Arena in KC, 1995.
I was a big fan of theirs, but when they played at the Texas Club several years ago, it was fricking awesome.

Rage Against the Machine when they played Voodoo Fest 4-5 years ago and Radiohead last year at Bonnaroo

Umphrey's Mcgee…not that their studio stuff is bad, but i have some friends that are so obsessed that I hated them because that's all they would listen to. Went to see them live and although I'm not addicted like them, gained an enormous amount of respect.

John Mayer
Me as well. Wasn't a fan, but learned that dude is a very talented guitarist. Also, didn't really like widespread panic until I saw a live show

John mayer - bought tickets for my gf for valentines day. The show was great. He just beasted on the guitar the whole time.
Kid Rock - could not stand anything about him and then my buddy won tickets so we went. The show was amazing.

I don't think a live show ever changed my mind on someone, but I can say a live show made me a fan, or let's say a show 'exceeded my expectations'.
I saw Lou Reed in B.R. at the old Kingfish and ended up being blown away by opening act, Ian Dury & the Blockheads. Another group I became a fan of based on a live show was 'Tucky Buzzard'. A couple of shows that exceeded my expectations were Rage Against the Machine and Green Day.

Trombone Shorty was great opening for ZBB. Never was a big Aerosmith fan but they put on one hell of a concert.

Same here. I'd say the same thing for Widespread Panic too. They were great live.

I have a feeling I'm going to be saying that about Kid Rock after tonight

Easy question for me as I just saw them in concert this past weekend.
The band? Fun. Their music was substantially better than I originally gave them credit for (as I only really knew We are Young and Carry On). I am not saying that they are my favorite band, but they do have a nice, refreshing sound to them. Do I want to listen to them all day, all the time? No. But it does make for a nice change of pace. Their Aim and Ignite album is very underrated (especially compared to the Some Nights album). Fun. is what I would classify as a legitimate good modern day pop ...somewhat "Queen-like" band. They put on a great and energetic show. I can't recall the crowd sitting down once.

Galactic. Always heard about them and listened to a bit but was never that in to the music. Went to Jazz Fest last year and they played before Foo Fighters. Amazing show and I instantly became a fan that day.
