I wouldn't mind him getting a look as our 3rd string, he can't be worse than Canfield

God Canfield was horrible.
I'd rather fatass Russel

Hate if you want, but I'd love to have Dwayne Bowe, Kyle Williams, Andrew Whitworth and Patrick Peterson on this team. I'd take Mingo as well.

I think we should absolutely sign him as our 2nd string QB
I really think we should bring him to camp. He would be great for the local economy too, food sales will double.

Obviously the writers for nola.com are as dumb as the commenters now.

As much if a joke this is, for his own development this would be one of the best places for him to land. You know Payton won't put up with shite and if he's not cutting it he'd be out. Dude still has a rocket arm and if he's serious at all about trying to put it all together, I wouldn't mind it. It's not like you're expecting him to contribute right away

Solid post.

Explain why he looks like he's wearing an inner tube under his shirt when he's been out of league for like 2 years desperate to get back in?

Like I said, he obviously has a lot of work to do. It's easy to start up a "comeback" but the true test will be if he really follows through with it. But if he does, you wouldn't think that'd be worth as much as a tryout? I mean obviously Brees is our starter for the next at least 3-5 years, but who knows, Daniel might move on in a year or two and he might be a good guy for Payton to develop if he has gotten his head on right. It's not like you're risking anything. I highly doubt he comes here, but I hope he latches on somewhere.

I'll say this, I'd rather a 280 LB Russel over Canfield. Dude can barely throw the ball.

This article is a perfect example of why the TP and NOLA.com is a complete joke. This article literally says nothing. The writer doesn't even answer or give an opinion of the question he posed in the title. How much do these guys make?

I would rather a sharp knife in my gut than a dull one.
I still want neither.
We don't have a 3rd spot to keep a project QB.
I do wish him luck.

This really isn't the start of a comeback, he's been tryin to come back, his conditioning is a flat out deal breaker.

You could see JaMarcus without trying.

Saints should let Russell try out for a nominal fee...say $20 million.

Well, I don't think the Saints are the spot for him regardless. But you don't think someone like the Jets, Arizona, Buffalo, Cleveland, or Kansas City would take a shot on him?
If, and it's a huge if, he gets on the right path it's a pretty huge payoff and if not, it's a minimum contract at best.

His lack of conditioning after all this time in league is inexcusable. He should be in tip top shape after years out of league trying to get back in. Period!

I mean I don't think it's that inexcusable. He hasn't been in a camp since I don't know...2009/2010? I mean that's three years now. Football players need rhythm and routine in their lives. Obviously he's a lazy arse considering he's over 300 lbs, but all he needs is one team to give him a chance. I hope he makes a camp just out of curiosity to see how he fares honestly

camp isn't a place where football players go and get into shape. he needs to go to fat camp.
