I hate to break it to you but when people say that, they mean certain schools accept certain credits. If you dont have the minimum required credits, then you cant get in.

Isn't that the reason behind Lawson's gray shirt offer? At least that was one story put out there. He didn't have proper credits.

I think that whether a credit is accepted is generally an NCAA issue, not a school-by-school issue.

Nearly every FBS school would probably admit the same players as long they pass the NCAA Clearinghouse. There are a few that keep a higher standard and some that might take less risks on character. But when people say, "Player X couldn't get into Miami but he could get into LSU," they are usually wrong.

It does come into play in two instances that I know of: (1) several non-BCS conferences allow partial qualifiers who can enroll and practice but not play until they meet certain academic criteria; and (2) for JUCO transfers, the SEC requires and additional science/math credit that other conferences do not.
