I can definitely add a place to avoid - Alexander's Steakhouse on Everhart. There was nothing pleasant about the place. Dingy smell. Dusty reception desk with no one manning it and no one looking for customers walking in. I almost walked out at that moment. Poor customer service. I actually allowed myself to be seated solely to verify that every initial symptom of a bad restaurant was going to be validated. The rolls were old and hard. The house salad accompanying the steak was briny and there was an unfamiliar taste I still can't explain. The steak (Alexander's Ribeye - their signature dish), was too salty and oddly cooked irregularly. I always order rare, but only a portion of the steak was rare. 80% of it was medium. How the frick does that happen?

If you do end up at Water Street (downtown's signature restaurant), stay away from the crawfish etouffee. Sushi was meh. Oysters were home run. Mesquite grilled, bacon wrapped, crabmeat stuffed shrimp were solid.

I tried Hester's for breakfast and got their Monte Christo. It's Texas Toast cooked in the style of French Toast, served with turkey, ham, swiss cheese and honey mustard. It was good, but I couldn't finish the damn thing.

The last few times I've been to CC, I got stuck with some travelers from Wash DC who wanted to dine on the water. I tend to get stuck with non-foodies when I travel there. So I didn't get a chance to try some other places I've been wanting to try - like Bleu Bistro.
