This isn't a new thing. It has been happening for years. Maybe other areas are just now getting hogs, but they have been around for decades, if not centuries.
Yes, we used to hunt open range property in LaSalle parrish and the hogs are actually less there now due to people taking them out of the woods. Those were different hogs then what we see now. There were almost domesticated. Easy to trap and kill. That aint the animal we have today. They are smart.

And you're right about happening for years, but the checks and balances are gone.

For the longest time there were two types of hogs in West Feliciana Parish. Angola had a large hog pen with from what I was told of several hundred that they turned loose years ago. Tunica area was filled with large eared multi colored hogs. Then you had the more feral hogs coming in from Mississippi. Several people trapped hogs from Miss and brought them into the Cat Island area. For the longest time the major hwys kept them on the western side of the parish but with them migrating down from Miss and from the east it was only a matter of time. Wouldn't mind seeing a bounty put on them eventually

Last year on my place in Montpelier, La. I saw two hogs all season. Had one or two one camera, and over 300 pictures of deer. This year was the total opposite. We would have 50-60 pigs on cam a night from right after dark to right before day light. We shot one six point this season. We are only on 149 acres. Ran dogs a few times with no success. Just over the last two weeks we have shot four pigs. Hopefully now the season is over they wont be so nocturnal. They have broke two feeders and rooted up almost everything. This off season im going all out for pig warfare. A few weeks ago they attacked my neighbors dog (pitbull) and messed him up pretty bad. Its on now, kill them all and keep movin.

Need some help? I'd be happy to bring my "assault weapon." EDIT: But seriously, I'm down to kill some pigs.

Yes, big time on my place. They just about wiped out the deer population. We have well over 20 traps out year round and sill a very big problem. I have a trap not even 500' behine my house that I put up back in Sept. Cought two and had one a couple days break out. I will be hunting them at night come March 1st!
