Billy Cannon -- Based on hearsay. Can't make him No. 1 because it was a segregated era and the competition was watered down. He never had to face something the competition of later eras

I would suggest you take a look at his competition before you say it was watered down. While segregation kept white and black from competing against each other, it certainly didn't keep blacks from competing. That said, who compares with Cannon from his time from anywhere. The list is short.

I understand that the segregation aspect might factor into it and he probably isn't the #1 high school RB in LA history.
But Cannon was an incredible athlete--one track and field enthusiast told me he won the state track meet in one of the sprint races & I believe either discus or shot put.
