Anthony Thomas was so much bigger and faster than everyone he played against in HS that he never had to develop any moves. This hindered him somewhat when he got to the next level. Still had a nice career at Michigan and with the Cowboys. I heard that he's coaching somewhere in TX now.
Interesting factoid: He was diagnosed with hypertension in high school and had to take medication for it.

Springhill -correct, saw him play several times, one game against Haughton he made six TDs. Can't find HS stats, but the ones from LTU posted below.
He was drafted by the bears. Last I heard he had a wasted life since, crack and homeless.

I understand that the segregation aspect might factor into it and he probably isn't the #1 high school RB in LA history.
But Cannon was an incredible athlete--one track and field enthusiast told me he won the state track meet in one of the sprint races & I believe either discus or shot put.

That's what I thought. Everybody that saw him play speaks about him with awe and what could have been. I knew he was a stud at Tech along with other Hall of Famers so that says a lot.

There was this ECA fan, all decked out from head to toe with ECA gear, he was practically irate by the time Tell scored his third TD. He's yelling at the Haynesville team, "Why don't y'all pass the ball!!! Y'all can't even pass!!!" My friend looks over and says to the guy, "I don't think they're too concerned about passing until y'all stop em from running." Tell had something like 6 carries for 179 and scored on a punt return. They won. I know, CSB.

I didn't get to see Quick 6 but I got to see Tell in college. He was the running back during Rattay years at Tech and was damn good. He rushed for a lot yards despite the offense being geared towards passing. In high school forgot about it Tell was the man.

They also beat #1 in 5A WM 16-7 at WM that year with Bobby Ray Tell.

If it's how good they were in college then Hilliard's about right and James should be back around 50. Garry James was Michael Ford.

You're still missing the point. He probably would not have won the sprint if black athletes were running. I agree with the idea that you have to somewhat downgrade the pre integration kids a little.

Delaney was one of the best, but he didn't play RB in high school. He played wide receiver.
He was a great athelete and track star in High School.
The third of Woodrow and Eunice Delaney's eight children, Joe Delaney was born in Henderson, Texas on October 30, 1958, and attended Haughton High School in Louisiana.[1][3][4] Discouraged by his father from pursuing his dreams of playing football,[5] Delaney became the starting wide receiver by his junior year at Haughton.[3] Major Division I schools that scouted him included Grambling State,[3] Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana State.
In high school, he ran the 100 yard dash in 9.4 seconds in high school and was on the Northwestern State track and field team, which won the NCAA 400-meter relay in 1981.[3] He holds the school 200 meter dash record with a time of 20.64 seconds.[8][9]

Kelvin Robinson was the only all American to ever play at Denham. He was a great rb.
