Sure, but you could say that about any interpretation of scripture, not just political interpretations. For example, it's very far from obvious that a doctrine of the trinity lurks within the NT.

The argument is not "hey look at what these other nations do." It is "look, these other nations have x system and works better and is cheaper at the same time."
Whether that argument is right or not, it's not the same thing as "hey look at what these religious freaks are doing somewhere".

No. Even in their own studies the effect that man has on global warming is negligible and the steps they take to lessen it like recycling, using electric cars, using alternative energy sources are mostly symbolic.

This is why the anti-climate change folks can't be taken seriously. I'm skeptical of how much effect man has on the overall climate, but I'm open to more evidence. I haven't made up my mind, but I haven't ruled anything out. You, as you've indicated, think it's impossible. As such, no amount of evidence can persuade you. Seems like another topic that was brought up in the OP...

Studies show that if we rolled back all our activities to pre industrial revolution levels we still wouldn't lower global warming by any significant amounts. So why should I give up my way of life or submit myself to draconian restrictions for purely symbolic reasons?

Are you incapable of answering a direct question without deflecting? No where did I suggest you do jack or shite. I simply pointed out that you have 100% said that it's impossible that the actions of 6 billion plus people COULD be having an effect on our climate. It's one thing to say you don't think they are...but that they COULDN'T?
Knowing where you're coming from, I completely get why you have to say this, but again it points out how dogmatic and inflexible your positions are even when evidence points in another direction.
As I stated earlier...I remain unconvinced but am certainly open to more evidence. One of my initial biggest problems with the entire thing was the type of spokesmen trotted out as experts. When a former Vice President with financial ties to the claim is the face of the movement, it's impossible for it not to appear political.

You are also inflexible and dogmatic about your positions on things as well. But since they are your positions and by default, must be right, you have no problem with your own hypocrisy.

I am like everyone else, in that I certainly think my views are correct. After all, why would I hold a view on anything if I thought the view I held was wrong? The difference is that I don;t hold my views dogmatically. They are open to new and contradictory evidence. They are open to change, even if it means I have to let go of a dearly held belief. I try, as best I can, to live up to this quote from Carl Sagan about Keppler:

Hogwash. People making the assertion with the book end of "like every other civilized country" is an attempt to paint us non-civilized because we are dissimilar. Further, claiming something works in nation X also works in the US is usually false, failing to account for the demographic, population size, and geographical diversity that is unique to the US. Maybe witch burning works for people where its practiced? But it has no place here.
