Although what Kobe is saying is true you can't under any circumstance bring that shite to the media. Kobe is a horrible teammate which makes him the most hard to like NBA superstar ever. In contrast Lebron and MJ23 made excellent team players while in the case if Lebron he is almost too good of a teammate and will defer to other players in moments where he could take over by himself

Lol u have no idea what u are talking about, MJ makes Kobe look like a saint. Go do some research.

Robert Horry has like 36 rings as well. I guess he should be considered an all time great simply for being at the right place at the right time.

the fact remains that after Shaq had left and before the very questionable (likely rigged) trade that sent Gasol to L.A. for next to nothing - Kobe had his chance for 3 seasons and couldn't do anything other than chuck the ball and score a lot of points. the Lakers missed the playoffs once and got knocked out by Phoenix twice in the first round. Kobe also led his team to an overall record below .500.

now you ESPN and fan boys of Kobe can argue about it all you want, but if this guy was such an "all time great" like the media has strategically sold him to the public to be then he should have done better than that. I mean LeBron James led the Cavs to the NBA finals with Larry F'N Hughes as his best player sidekick

The 2001 76ers would like to throw their hat in the ring.

I'd like to get the context in which Kobe said that. I don't necessarily read it as he's calling Dwight out. He may have been just responding to questions. It may be in the article. I'm on the phone and didn't look. Regardless, he's right.

He was a passable player that benefitted from everyone gameplanning around Shaq. Similar to Kobe.

He's right. Probably a bit more caustic than necessary. . .

Lebron and Iverson take a bunch of paraplegics to the NBA finals, but Kobe can't.

I hate having to defend Kobe around here sometimes, but oh well.

Hypothetically, if you switch out LeBron during that finals run with Kobe during the down years, does LeBron make the finals?

The point is that no player can single-handedly win in The Finals on their own.

Lebron and AI got the closest. An underrated factor in them getting there is that they played in the East. I think 2005 Kobe may have had a shot to get to the Finals before getting throttled by the Spurs if he played in the East. Conversely, it is definitely less likely that Lebron's or AI's team would have made it out of the West. Still possible they could have though.

Lot a retard going on in this thread, since when is Pau Gasol some amazing dominant player? Kobe made him that. Yea Shaq was awesome and so was Kobe, that's why they fricking killed everybody, you couldn't stop them both.
No Kobe has never been accused of being a nice guy who looks out for his teammates, but neither has Michael Jordan, he never gave two shits about his teammates. MJ gets praised for always taking the last shot no matter if he's triple teamed and Kobe gets absolutely crushed for it, makes no sense.

I'm not arguing MJ vs. Kobe but I am saying you people in here saying Kobe was carried to titles by other players and stand alone isn't one of, if not the best player in the league the past 15 years are fricking retarded
