It's a bare bones 1911 and I wasn't looking for it at all, but when I saw him he just kind spoke to me. "Take me hooommmmee, lie to the wiiiiiiifffffe, I looooovvve yoooouuuu!!!". WTF was I supposed to do?

KR, you might be able to give me some insight. I'm not real happy with the fit of my Colt Rail Gun. You know any good 1911 smiths that might be able to help? It was another impulse buy (its a great habit) and I really didn't know that much about them at the time. It runs like a champ, but it erks the shite out of me.

When you say fit, you mean slide to frame fit?

Back drop added for effect

And yes, it needs to be cleaned.

When it's a slide to frame issue there isn't much you can do. Just let it roll and appreciate what you have.

Where in the state are you? I send all my guns to a smith in Houston but there are a couple good smiths in Laf and Nola area.
Looks like the a barrel lockup issue.
ETA, could just be some blending of the slide too.

Guns and porn what more could a man ask for?

I had the lockup timing adjusted and the slide slightly blended on this Colt.

I worked on a shite load of really old 1911s in my day. This would normally happen with link issues (worn out). Doubt that's the case with a new weapon.
The other time this happened was when a new barrel was installed.
Looking at the ejection port, is the barrel up in full battery when the slide is forward?
My guess is it could be a barrel / slide interface issue (burr or sharp edge on the locking lugs).
These things aren't rocket science. Polish off any sharp edges on the barrel locking lugs (not the slide lugs...or at least only minimally).
A dremel fixes 99.9% of 1911 issues.

A dremel
That's a stiff recommendation.
I bet that word scares some people. I can't imagine taking a dremel to my baby.
