A major motion picture was made about the last concert (at least it was going to be the last concert), by a major filmmaker, though he wasn't quite the legend he would become later.

I love The Band - Dixie and The Weight are 2 of my favorite songs, particularly the versions from The Last Waltz, but I'm failing to see how they were underrated.

Maybe so. Its just that I've come across a number of "casual" classic rock listeners (I use that term loosely.) who have never even heard of the band. It blows my mind every time. It seems to me that they have nowhere near the following of the other great bands of that era (Beatles, Stones, Creedence, etc).

Im in my mid 20s just for reference. I'm still upset with myself that I didnt get to see Levon perform before he passed. RIP

The Band got some love, mainly for the hits like "The Weight" ,"The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" etc, but I don't think many people realize how good ALL of their music is. I guess it just depends on you view the word underrated.
