When i entered in 70769 for zip code, cox showed they were selling the new speeds so you should be able to get 50Mbps in ideal conditions. if you have the DOCSIS 3

Yup. Like I said, I could get 35+Mb/s before their "upgrade". It was around the 25 range during the day. I am still getting the same exact speeds. Modem would seem like the obvious choke point, but it is a 3.0 that does phone/internet

supports 802.11 a, b, g, n (2.4, 5 GHz) so you should be able to get that.

Speedtest.net is the only thing i use

you can also try a direct conncet to the modem and see if that increases the speed.

Just got this now: Still same shite as I was getting a month ago. Nothing new here Pisses me off because I dl/ul/transfer a lot of huge files and programs and could use the extra speed. 1080p movies get hung up on my PS3 sometimes as well

If you only have 10Mb, a netflix stream will use about 1/3rd of that. If someone else is downloading something, you will not be a happy camper trying to play ps3 online.

Absolutely. It is such a marketing game to offer residential plans at 50 meg.
WTF? Are people really complaining about increased speeds being a marketing game? Would you prefer they continue throttling your service when the bandwidth is clearly available?

Alright, trying to figure out if I have a bottleneck somewhere. I have one of those DOCSIS 3 Arris modems that cox installs D-Link DIR-655 One new(<6 months old) splitter that cox installed No idea what the hell else could be causing me to get 50-65% of what I should be getting. Does anyone else have the Arris/D-Link combo?

Are you in a big neighborhood? The further away from the main line, the worst the signal is.

That shouldnt even come close to happening with 33Mbps. For Vudu HDX you need around 6Mbps.

I dont know. could be a lot of traffic in your area.

Southdowns. 90% of the people in this neighborhood are gone during the daytime. Only people here are college and old people. It isn't like I am living on Brightside or something. There are businesses on Perkins, but I am by Hyacinth so I am guessing they would have a different node for my neighborhood It is at 29/12 right now, and I figure most people are home already. People in Baton Rouge get off of work at 3 on Fridays for some reason. It still should be faster than 30 though. quote:

Dunno why is has a hard time when I watch 1080 movies then. I don't have the same problem watching 720. I have downloaded a bunch of stuff bigger than 5 gigs, and some up to 100, so slow internet is not what I am looking for Eta: On other sites, I am consistently getting around 20/9

I've got around 15 at home and can't imagine needing anything faster. It would be overkill IMO.
