Those Northern schools typically just aren't good enough. There isn't anywhere near the same amount of talent to choose from recruiting wise and they typically don't get as much on field practice time as the Southern schools because of the weather. They usually come in to the Box and just aren't quite ready. By no means will they be as bad as Brown, but LSU will sweep them out of the Box.

ETA: I am referring to early series such as this one. By no means am I saying they won't be better towards the end of the year and make a regional. They sometimes just aren't able to get outside on the field as much and aren't ready for Opening Day.
