i dont see him gaining that much weight unless he really really tried....hes filled out pretty well right now, not sure how much more room hes got as far as filling out his frame. we shall see, good to have options

He plays outside, he's got 4.4/4.5 speed. How does he not have range?

People talking out there ass. You can't simply look at someones measurables and determine that they fit any particular position. Anyone watch him play this year? He has GREAT measurables but is not a 4* why?

What? It's pretty obvious that teams at top of recruiting rankings are usually the same ones playing for bcs and sec championships

Laron Landry runs a 4.38 and he has problems. Its not all about speed. Flexibility, turning & running. Playing the ball in the air. He's a LB. He's reads the ball and reacts to tackle it. He's an attacker. Not a coverage guy.

Exactly, I have not seen him play. There are a huge number of reasons for him being a three star and not rated higher. Speed, size, can't tackle, hates contact, LITTLE RESEARCH! Anyone out there able to fill me in with your opinion of how good he is/will be?

This. If he can't change direction without losing that speed, he'll get picked apart back there.

Are you sure about the can't tackle, hates contact. This does not seem consistent with other reports. He is still a 3-star recruit & has some good measureables--he is a LA product from a great high school program, John Curtis, that has even better prospects on the way the next few years. So signing him may pay benefits for LSU in the future.

No, I am not saying that about him. All I know is his measurable are freaking great. His star rating is not freaking great. I do not know why? Seeking answers as to why his evaluation is not better. What part of his game does not reach a higher level. Can't tackle and hate contact are just a couple of hypothetical answers someone might give to my question.

Part of the star rankings late in the recruiting cycle has to do with which schools have offered you over the cycle, or where you are committed. We picked him up after the final star assignments so he can't get bumped.

He led Curtis with 115 tackles during the regular season! 4a def MVP He is 3* because he is a little undersized at LB. Had he played safety he might have been a 4 or5 star . You cannot base his position on where he plays in high school that's ridiculous ! Players are continuously projected in college at different positions then what they played in high school! ! High school coaches have to place players were they are needed . Didn't Ruben Randle play qb his SR year?

Will be looked at Safety. Guys, he does not have to put on 15 to 20 pounds. How big was Chad Jones when he came to LSU and when he left?

It seems a shame the staff waited this long to offer him a scholly.
B/c he is a natural LB and we really don't need any and if we were going to take any we had our sights on Foster and possibly Beckwith at LB.

He comes in at fairly decent safety size. He should get a look there, and if he catches on, provide depth for the immediate. His future looks brighter at LB, and as his body develops, Chavis will move him, sort of like what Chavis has done in the past...

Guys he's not going to play safety at LSU.. Our linebackers are all smaller guys but they are fast as shite. That's the only reason he got an offer, he'll be an OLB that should come into the game in passing situations to drop in coverage/come of the edge in a blitzing situation as well. He will not play SS/FS no chance! He'll be a solid special teams guy and will have a decent career at LSU. Just my opinion

This reminds me of the millions of threads on the rant every year asking if Chad Jones was going to be moved to safety.
