I really don't think this is an apt comparison at all.

They are both about the same height, big guys (Davis obviously a little bigger). Both are double double machines, but neither "takes over" offensively. Davis had a jumper than JOB III doesn't possess yet, but he's still pretty young. JOB III is definitely more athletic, which, well, not hard to be that over Big Baby. I guess you could say he's a pretty good cross between Bass and Davis though.

A better comparison is Brandon Bass. He didn't have much of an offensive game his first 2 years, either.

What in the frick? Bass was here for only two years and was SEC freshman of the year and then SEC player of the year.

There's not one doubt in my mind. We return everyone minus Carmouche and ADP and we add one of the better recruiting classes in my lifetime.

They have that much time to learn to play defense.

I think next year we should be top 5 SEC for sure and a tournament team. Besides that, I haven't seen enough footage of the new guys to really know. There are a ton of variables such as how players abilities compute to collegiate success and drive. I think these players coming in will be a big boost, but Im certainly not ready to say final four run.

Now if Hickey and O'Bryant stay for their senior years, that will be a solid team.

Just being capable of being a final four team actually says nothing. Half the teams in the country meet that definition before the games actually start being played every year.

You are putting a lot of your faith in factors that may not come true. Recruiting classes can sound great on paper but not perform or at least not right away when they get to the college game. The freshmen this year sounded great and actually looked pretty good in early season games. But their contribution started to twindle and last night in the biggest win of the year they did nothing.

And of course players can always leave, get injured or not make it academically. All us "rantards" are saying is be a little realistic and don't set us up for failure. Let's enjoy this win for a while before we start feeling that if we don't make the final four next year we are a flop.

"Never said they would make. Said they would be capable of it"

Tup, shake the haters bro,I agree if and only if JOB comes back this team should be a tourney lock. And we all know what can happen if you get in and get the favorable matchups.

I'm curious were you one of the posters that thought we were and NCAA tournament team at the start of this year? I like to be positive but let's pump the brakes a little and see how things progress.

I don't know if that's likely. thats 06 team was stacked, but these recruits are really good. Just their size alone is going to make a huge difference. A point guard who is 6'5??? A 6'7 and 6'9 guy who both have handles and can shoot the ball??

You must be in college or HS.

Hey, I saw a 9-9 in the SEC, 11th seed LSU team beat a 3 seed, 2 seed, and 1 seed to reach the 86 Final 4 without any real hot shot talent on the team.

So, stuff can happen....hell yeah....why not!!
