Lets just say sumlin was more pissed about losing Thompson than losing any of the recruits last year. Was an absolute big time steal.

So do you think he starts opposite of Loston at FS? Cuz nobody is going to see any PT at SS unless Loston just needs a blow.

Hey guys I hate to hijack this thread. But I was looking at the SEC recruiting board and there is a thread on Frank Herron and some in that thread are saying he will flip to Ole Miss on singing day. I know there has been rumor about this for a while. What you guys think about this

My MSU buddy told me about this. I just dismissed it because I honestly feel that every Ole Miss fan believe they can flip any and every 5-star in existence.

Yea Ole Miss is on a roll right now. There is no telling who they can flip right now.

Thanks guys. I have read Shea saying that there was rumors but that he was all LSU. But Shea's article was a little while back. Just wanted to ask you guys.

I hope your opinion is based on more than that.

People forget how big of a competitor that guy was. I'll always love that quote from the Rice Super Regional. I don't think we got but maybe one runner on third base the whole first game, and the guy was still confident as hell that we'd get that super regional victory (although we got our arse handed to us in the second game as well ).

Great guy that Wally Pontiff was!

Wow. That's actually all it was based on. Wish I knew anything about Texas recruiting

Loston would get hurt reading a post on TD. Love watching him play but the dudes injury prone. Thompson will be a stud.

The coaches were floored at the size and ability Thompson showed when he stepped on campus last year. If he can put it together, I also have no doubt the guy can be an All-SEC kind of player for us. Not saying this will happen overnight, I just agree with one of the other posters that he might have turn out to be a better safety than Martin or Eugene by the time he leaves.

I thought he played great last year on special teams FWIW

No doubt about it. He was like that from when he was a kid until the day he died. Never saw someone take little league baseball as serious as him and his dad did. haha! Good times!

I remember a family member of mine that was on the team the year Wally passed balling his eyes out when he found out. Everyone loved him.

I really wish we could swing Willis and Goodman. Wanted them before, but now it is showing, we need them.

There was no lack of recruiting. We had a guy committed, and we recruited several other really good safeties, and just missed out. Goodman, Jackson, Carter from Miami. There was no "lack" of recruiting at the position, just missed on a lot of high profile targets, and sometimes that happens.

Had the staff insisted on recruiting a less well known prospect, guys on here would blast them for taking up a spot for "a guy that won't play and we are loaded next year and we should save a spot." shite folks, can't have it both ways.

I'm not worried about safety depth next year, but if we don't add a quality safety this year we'll be left with inexperienced safeties in two years. That's not a position to be inexperienced at.

This is Miles weakness as a recruiter. He gets as much talent as anyone, but every year he has a huge need and uses that as a recruiting tool. This season it was QB and Dline, last season LB, next season RB and safety.
