I have the CVA elite stalker 45-70 govt. and man you wouldn't believe how accurate it is with the leverevolution harnady 325 gr bullets at 100 yards. I call these freaking bullets missiles.

I have the CVA Apex in the 35 Whelen and its the only gun I hunted with all year. It has a better feel to it than the Elite Stalker and its feels a little shorter. I had the extra money when I made the purchase to get the Apex and I haven't been disappointed. For reference, I have a Browning A-bolt in 300 wsm and a Sako Finlight in a 708 that sat in the safe and collected dust, that's how much I like that gun.

I guess I will hold both the Stalker and the Apex and see which one I like better. Price really isn't a problem. Planned on a grand for the rifle and scope. Either gonna get the Nikon Prostaff or a Pentax Game Finder II.

I shoot the Elite Stalker in 35 Whelen. Laid down a doe 6 hours ago with it. Great round, and no complaints on the gun. We have an extended primitive season, and I know several people who hunt they entire season with the 35 Whelen because you are basically shooting a 30.06.
A buddy of mine shoots the 35 Whelen in the Encore, and he told me that I had to shoot Hornady. Never could get it to zero in. Switched to Remington Core Lokts, and its been on for good.
I bought the CVA over the Encore on price difference alone. Switching out barrels was not a need for me, since I own all the rifles I will ever need with the exception of purchasing rifles for my son and daughter.
