Right now I have a bunch of horns screwed to two pieces of drift wood outside. Over the years the sun has bleached the horns, turned some greenish, and made them brittle. Looking for ideas on anyway to save them, preserve them, etc. Really don't wanna put all of them on plaques but will if I have to. Tia

We use shoe polish on ours. Gives them a brownish redish look and I like it. Not traditional but, again, I like it.

Be careful if you try to take them off. They might split if they've been there a long time.

You could strap a set to you wife's head and take her to the woods. OR you could go shoot a bunch of rabbits and make a fortune selling jack-a-lopes. OR you could go hide em in the yard and have a redneck easter egg hunt with the kids.

That's all I got.

Hang the whole thing in the garage/bedroom and call it a day! Seriously though, you could probably spray a coat of bleach on it to get rid of the green and then rinse it off real well. Taking it out the elements should stop the deterioration. There's probably some taxidermy spray or epoxy you could coat it with. We keep a few racks outside under the porch of the camp and they're fine.

Everyone should start sending their cull buck horns to PETA. Just flood their local office with horns, squirrel guts, pictures of dead deer etc...

Yes I'm mad. My little cousin is on a tree hugger kick and decided to tell me all about the evils of hunting over the weekend.

My FFIL made bottle openers out of them and gave as gifts.
