I couldn't agree more! I literally cringe when I hear people say this. I try to explain to people how pointless this phrase is all the time. If you are saying "it is what it is" that person or group of people understand that it is what it is. It's just worthless language and I hate it.
I also, for the same sort of reasons hate "at the end of the day."
