Cpt yea kipping pullups suck and lead to inuries in many cases. Just do regular if you dont want to/cant kip. Thats what i do, puts you at a disadvntage in competitions like this but better to be safe then sorry.

Sign up for the open or a crossfit gym? Open, use my link once registration begins. For a gym, google crossfit gyms in your area. I am in Ohio so don't know much about down there. It's a great workout though, good luck

I've seen that stuff. Very crazy, agreed. But I've never come across a gym that does that shite. I'd guess that 99% of crossfit gyms aren't like that.

I was just over 50min. It sucked royally! Looking forward to the open to see how much I've improved since last year.

I've been doing crossfit for about 8 months. I had never really worked out in my life (pretty overweight, still working). I've never injured myself and have made great gains at this that I never made just trying to run on a treadmill or anything. Of course at the gym I attend, the trainer is very anal about form and being able to do that correctly before you can up your weight. You have to realize that most of the people who attend crossfit gyms are just trying to get in better shape and push themselves. Not everyone is trying to do 70000 reps of pullups in 60 seconds. The trainers and people who are psycho about it do, but they usually know what they are doing as well.

Not many. I did a lot when I first started out at my first box. They did a lot of them. I was new so I can't remember which ones I did. My box now doesn't do many of the named WOD's. I've done Murph and Annie. I'm going to start doing a lot of them on my own time though to have a feel for my times.

I have been doing CF for over 3 years now and even did it before it was on ESPN and Reebok showed up. The problem with the way the open is set up is regards to some of you saying how are people not fudging the scores. They do. If you look at the 1500 scores for this areas regionals once people "qualify" for it, the bottm 100-200 people have a bunch of DNCs(did not complete) if you go back and look at their open scores, they were pretty good. This occurs every year now. Do not think for 2 seconds some coaches arent getting themselves to regionals to be able to say that their gym is home to a CF regionals competitor

I'm fairly new to crossfit. Didn't think that was a real issue. But I can see how that would make sense.

The only people that have to submit a video of their workouts are home gym people. So any coach or competitor that is good friends with a coach can just write a score down or not really be very strict on form or reps.

If you have decent strength, Grace ends up being a high intensity cardio workout. We actually have the same Grace time. Anything under 3:00 is solid. We have some sub-2s at our box, which is absolutely ridiculous.

I participated in the Open last year. Didn't qualify, will be participating again this year. Slight chance I qualify this year, next year is the true goal. My numbers from last year: Max burpees in 7 minutes - 101 The snatch workout - 60 (tried 165# twice, zero chance it was going overhead) The 18 minutes one - I don't remember, but I remember it being the one that help me back. Endurance is not my strong point.
