TM7 has the potential to be the best nicleback in history. He matches up against any slot reciever int he NFL TM7 > all slot recievers

Wow. You really don't know much about the NFL. Wes Welker is a slot receiver. It's harder to be a slot cb. If you're on the outside you at least have the sideline as an extra defender.

I like him as a playmaker... But he SUCKS as a cover corner. The NFL is WAY different than playing in the SEC.

You're fricking STUPID. he does NOT SUCK as a cover corner. Get a clue old man.

How well did he cover 2 years ago in the 21-0 blow against Bama? I wish him luck but the bigger WR in the pro's are going to eat his lunch.

You continue to be an ignorant frick. I've never seen you make a positive post about LSU.
ONCE AGAIN , ON JAN.9, 2011, TM GAVE UP 4 , FOUR, CATCHES. Giving up 4 catches for a total of TWO FIRST DOWNS AND ZERO TDS.
It's dumb fricks like you that run their dick sucker on here like they know what they're talking about.

he should test out well, and he will play the same role in the NFL he did at LSU, .05.

Go check the NFL rosters... there are 5'9 corners all over the place that are doing well. He has great hips and instincts and plays bigger than 5'9

This. The only doubt about Mathieu's coverage skills is really his recovery speed. That's why I think NFL teams will find him more appealing as a S or NB.

You Serious?????

Name him. What corner has ever played like that? I've been watching college ball for over 40 years, and I've never seen a guy just take the ball away from the other team like that. I just can't think of anyone to compare him to.

The bigger wide receivers eat everyone alive. The advantage is with the WR. What makes TM7 special is that he takes it away...before, while, and after they catch it.

I never said he wasn't exciting. He is a GREAT ballhawk and special teams type player. But he is NOT a good cover corner and the BIGGER wr's in the NFL would eat him alive.

This. If he lands on a D that can let him roam like Chavis has most of 2011, then he can be good.

I have more hope that he gets his life in order over him making it in the NFL.

No he doesn't. He's a well above average cover man, just not historically amazing at it like he is at several other parts of the game.

He will get his shot. I still think he gets in trouble again. It seems to follow him wherever he goes. Once he gets some money it's will be even worse.

Guy is my hero and I don't care what he smokes. The most incredible player I've ever seen and probably ever will. I think he will be a beast in the NFL just like college but time will tell. Watch some highlight videos and then cast your prediction. Its hard to imagine him not being a force in the league.

And one should add that he wasn't out of position on these catches. Good execution by the offense, mostly.

Isn't it funny how so many folks have bought into that "Mathieu can't cover" nonsense. He has excellent coverage skills. His only NFL weaknesses are probably size (which plenty of NFL guys overcome) and perhaps lack of elite speed.

It's almost funny to hear the cries of "that DB got burned" every time someone makes a catch. A good throw and a good route beats good coverage almost every time, unless you guess the route or make a spectacular play (neither of which a DB can do every play). A good DB can play well and still give up a catch.

I agree that he is not a bad cover guy, but he was out of position on one of those catches where the receiver used his size advantage to create space in the first 5 yards. This is Mathieu's biggest weakness that he will have to work on.
